Dining
Dining at The Wild Retreat
Meals are cooked in the resort kitchen and served in an open dining hall under a terracotta tile roof. Lunch and dinner are unlimited buffets, and three meals are included in every overnight stay.
The buffet
Cooked to the house, not to a card
The kitchen cooks to the number of guests staying that day rather than to a fixed printed menu, so dishes change through the week. The cooking is closer to Malnad home food than to standard hotel catering.
A 23-hour stay covers lunch on the day you arrive, dinner that evening and breakfast the following morning. Breakfast is vegetarian. For lunch and dinner, tell us what your group eats at the time of booking and we will confirm the menu for your dates.
Dietary requirements are straightforward to plan around given notice. Mention them in your enquiry and the kitchen will work to them.

Across the day
Meals through the day
Serving times are confirmed at the time of booking. They shift slightly with the season and with the number of guests staying.
Vegetarian breakfast
South Indian breakfast the way it is eaten locally - idli, dosa, upma or poha depending on the day, with chutney, sambar and filter coffee. Served before you check out, so nobody leaves hungry.
Unlimited buffet lunch
Rice, sambar, rasam, two or three vegetable dishes, curd, pickle and a sweet. This is the meal that makes the 23-hour stay worth it - most guests arrive straight into it.
Tea and snacks
Tea, coffee and a hot snack in the late afternoon - usually eaten by the pool or on the lawn rather than in the hall. Included in the Day Out packages as well.
Dinner and the bonfire
Buffet dinner is served in the open dining hall, and the bonfire is lit outside once the meal is over. Music can be played on the lawn or from the open-air stage.
For groups
Custom menus for groups
Corporate groups, birthdays and family functions can agree a menu in advance rather than taking the day buffet.
Send us the headcount, the occasion and any dietary requirements, and the kitchen will plan around them. Meal times can also be moved to fit a schedule of sessions or a function rather than the usual pattern of the day.
- Dining hall seats a full offsite
- Menus set in advance for groups
- Vegetarian and dietary needs planned around
- Meal timings shifted to fit your schedule
